Tucker is a city in DeKalb County, Georgia, located northeast of downtown Atlanta. The area was first settled in the 1820s and later developed as a railroad community in 1892, when a station along the rail line gave the settlement a commercial anchor. For more than a century Tucker remained an unincorporated community; in a November 2015 referendum, voters approved incorporation by a wide margin, and the city formally began operating in 2016. Its population is roughly 37,000. The city's civic identity centers on Main Street, a walkable commercial corridor that runs through the heart of Tucker. The annual Tucker Day festival brings residents together for a parade, arts, crafts, and live music, and the corridor is anchored at one end by the rebuilt Tucker High School campus.
